- Summary:
- 62 postmenopausal women were treated either with black cohosh (40 mg),
estrogen (0.6 mg), or placebo. Results indicated that black cohosh was
equipotent to estrogen and and superior to placebo in reducing
menopausal complaints. Black cohosh exerted desired effects on the brain
and hypothalamus, bone, and in the vagina, but without exerting
uterotrophic effects.
