Knowing that 15 percent of North Americans at age 65 will have Alzheimer's and by 80 years of age 50 percent of people will have Alzheimer's — Dr. Kidd's information must be heard.

In this issue of the newsletter I wanted to provide you with simple tips to common health concerns.

Sore throat - Put 5 drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide in your ear for ten minutes. You will be amazed how quickly your sore throat will subside. Use slippery elm throat lozenges or drops as well. Another benefit of the hydrogen peroxide is it helps clear ear wax build-up.

Recurring candida yeast infections - Take oil of oregano and grapefruit seed extract every day (follow directions on the label for dosage). Include probiotics to replenish good bacteria in the body. Your male partner should also be treated so you do not pass candida back and forth during intercourse.

Beautiful skin - Take 3000mg of borage oil, 10 drops of choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid and one packet of MULTISMART everyday.

Strong nails - 10 drops of choline-stabilized orthosilicic acid per day

To improve or maintain memory - Take GPC 1200mg per day, 200mg of coenzyme Q10, 200mg of R-lipoic acid, 300mg PS. Learn a new language (the fastest way to improve neural networks in the brain), play Scrabble or Bridge, do crossword puzzles. A new study also found that people who chew gum have improved memory. Researchers took 75 adults and gave them 20 minutes of memory tests. Another group was tested with out chewing gum and the third group mimicked chewing gum but did not have gum in their mouth. The gum-chewers scored 24 percent higher on word recall tests and 36 percent higher on delayed word recall. Researchers report that Brain MRI studies have showed that the hippocampus, an area important for memory, lights up when people chew. Do not chew gum with artificial sweeteners sucralose or aspartame.

Bug Repellant - Use Buzz Away. It is a safe bug repellant. At night cover up with clothing and spray your clothing with bug spray.

Hormone testing - If you are a menstruating woman have your hormones tested between day 18 and day 20 (remember day 1 is the first day of your period). The hormones to have tested include progesterone, testosterone, DHEAS, estrogen. Post menopausal women can have the tests performed any time.

Low thyroid - Have a TSH test and if the results come back over 2 you may have the symptoms of low thyroid even though your doctor won't prescribe thyroid hormone. Click here to read about treating low thyroid naturally.

Detoxification - The only detoxification kit I like was designed by Dr. Michael Lyon, MD. It is the Revitalex and Detoxitech 7 day Detox kit. I do this program three times a year. I love it because you can eat while you are detoxifying - and it heals your digestive tract from your mouth to your butt. If you have cellulite this kit is a great start to your cellulite busting program.

Hair dyes - Dark hair dyes contain phenylenediamine an estrogenic compound. Now Aveda has a terrific hair dye that is 97% pure plant based. Foils and highlights are another option as the dye does not touch the scalp.

Stomach problems - Get tested for H.pylori. H.pylori is a very common infection of the gut that causes ulcers, gas, bloating and more. Antibiotic therapy is the treatment of choice. New research has found that pure blueberry juice and the berries aid the antibiotic treatment for faster recovery.

Urinary Incontinence - Ask your doctor for a prescription for vaginal estriol 0.1mg per day for 3 to 6 months. Research has shown this simple prescription can eliminate urinary incontinence in most women. Do not let your doctor prescribe estradiol. Estriol is much safer because it does not thicken the uterine lining nor does it affect breast tissue negatively.

Ear infections in children - Take your child off all dairy products. Many children have a sensitivity to dairy products that shows up as recurring ear infections.

Eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis - Take 5000mg of borage oil per day with food.

Improving Concentration - Take 200mg of L-theonine.

Arthritis - Remember glucosamine only works at a dosage of 1500mg per day. Glucosamine repairs damaged cartilage. It can take years to repair the damage of wear and tear and inflammation. Celadrin must be taken with glucosamine. Celadrin stops the inflammation that causes further degradation of the cartilage and Celadrin also relubricates the joint tissue. Celadrin and glucosamine act together. Remember to use the Celadrin arthritis cream for immediate pain relief.
