Melatonin for Sound sleep and Reduced Blood Pressure

Melatonin, a naturally occurring hormone that can be taken orally to regulate sleep patterns, reduced the blood pressure (BP) of hypertensive women, claim Italian researchers.

A previous study from Harvard Medical School reported that taking melatonin for three-weeks reduced the systolic BP of men with high blood pressure. Now a new study published in the American Journal of Hypertension, confirms this in women. The release of melatonin during the night is related to the typical blood pressure drop during sleep. The current study sought to test if melatonin supplements could amplify the normal night time fall in BP.

This Simple Test Can Save Your Life
The American College of Pathology states that four out of five women who die of cervical cancer had not had a PAP smear in the previous five years. According to Health Canada the highest incidence of cervical cancer and the highest death rates occur in women over the age of 55, a group that often stops having annual PAP tests. PAP smears save lives by discovering abnormal cells called cervical dysplasia early enough to prevent loss of life from cervical cancer. All adult women from the age of 18 should have an annual PAP test to ensure her cervix is healthy - but what can be done when the test comes back abnormal?

Fatty acids are necessary for moisturizing the skin, preventing aging, decreasing wrinkles, treating acne and protecting the skin from sunburn. Warning: Calcium Will NOT Stop Osteoporosis

Our bones are in a constantly being broken down and rebuilt. Osteoporosis, meaning "porous bone," arises when bone is broken down faster than it can be rebuilt. Our bones not only provide the hard coat-hanger that supports and protects our internal organs and tissues but the components of bone are also the body's gatekeeper of calcium and magnesium. One in four women has osteoporosis and one in eight men. Bone fracture is a dangerous result of osteoporosis. Many people who have hip fractures as a result of osteoporosis never get out of long-term care facilities. And hip fractures result in death in up to 20 percent of cases. A Dual-Energy Absorptiometry (DEXA) scan is the most accurate method to determine osteoporosis.

We should think of bone as a calcium and magnesium bank. When the body needs calcium or magnesium it withdraws what it needs from bones. Hopefully you are making regular deposits of these two important nutrients through diet or calcium and magnesium supplements. If you aren't depositing enough calcium your bones will become bankrupt and osteoporosis can develop. So how can we maintain strong bones?

Simple Operation Prevents Incontinence

Four extra stitches can help prevent a lifetime of bladder problems in women. Dr. Linda Brubker of Loyola University published a study in the New England Journal of Medicine April 13, 2006 showing a simple technique could solve years of problems in those having surgery for uterine prolapse, a painful condition that occurs when the uterus weakens and sags in to the birth canal. Frequent childbrith increases the chances of this happening. Hundreds of thousands of women in North America have repair surgery or many more have hysterectomy (total removal of the uterus) to solve the problem. The operation can often lead to bladder problems especially leakage. Now this latest study found that simply adding four permanent stitches, two on either side from the vagina to the pelvic ligament to form a hammock keeps the urinary control muscle stable. If you are having this surgery ask your surgeon to do this simple step. It can solve years of bladder leakage problems.

Kegel Exercise Bladder and Vaginal Muscles
Remember to do your kegel exercises everyday to develop strong vaginal muscles, prevent prolapse uterus and bladder and eliminate urinary incontinence, urinary frequency and more. If you sneeze or laugh and urine leaks out you need to kegel. You can kegel anytime. Start by squeezing the muscles of the vagina and urethra then relax, then squeeze the muscles again and relax... do this often. It is similar to the action we use to stop and start a urine stream. Kegel exercises will also strengthen a weakened bladder and make orgasms much more intense. You can purchase a kegel exerciser developed by Dr. Kegel to make kegelling easier. Dr. Sue Johansen of Talk Sex television show recommends this little device. You can buy it online at http://www.natural-contours.com/
